WMA WMX motocross racer Lindsey Scheltema enjoys some air time picture

I have ridden dirt bikes since I was 8 years old. My first race was a local fair race when I was 11. From there I raced the SJO Michigan fair Supercross series for a couple of years. In November 2002, I raced my first amateur national at Mini O’s. From there I traveled onto qualify for Loretta’s in 2003-2008, and also this year in 2009. I got my WMA pro license in 2006, raced the first half of the series, and internal injuries prevented me from finishing out my rookie season, and also forced me to sit out and heal for a year.

2008 has been my year to come back, and I have proven to be stronger and in more control than ever before. I see a bright future for myself and my racing in 2009. My speed, control, and determination to succeed have finally started working together, and I’m excited to see where it brings me next season! Tentative 2009 plans for me include racing the east coast WMA pro nationals, and also couple amateur nationals; including Loretta Lynn’s.

  • 2005: Loretta Lynn Amateur National- 8th Place Overall.
  • Mini O’s – 3rd Place (motocross and Supercross events)
  • 2006: 11th place at my first WMA pro national at Glen Helen.
  • 2008: 1st place – Baja MX LLQ
  • 1st place- Sunset Hills LLQ
  • 2nd Place- MC Motopark – Loretta Lynn Regional
  • 22nd Overall- Loretta Lynn National. (37-13-18)
  • 5th place Overall- Mini O’s.
  • 2009: Log Road MX- Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier : 1st place
  • Sunday Creek MX- Loretta Lynn’s Regional Qualifier: 1st place

When I am not riding I.............

Off the track, I love staying on track with my busy lifestyle. I recently was chosen to represent Arenacross as the new Miss Arenacross. For me, being a racer is the most amazing opportunity to represent the sport I love during my off season. Besides this new addition to my “off the track life”, I manage to juggle between riding a couple 3-4 times a week, training at the gym 5 days a week, taking a full load at Franklin University ( I am about to begin my third year), and I work a couple days a week as a waitress. I am going to school for public relations, and would love to find my place in the motocross industry someday in the future, where my passion has always been and wants to stay. I love living for the adventures of each day, and am very excited for my opportunity to compete in the Pro WMA series again in 2009.
